On September 28th and 29th a meeting of all fourteen members of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) network will be held at the University of Dubrovnik, Croatia, to discuss the next steps of cooperation in the EDMO network’s main areas, as well as relevant topics, such as disinformation related to upcoming elections and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence.
The two-day hybrid meetings will bring together EDMO’s interdisciplinary network of fact-checkers, media literacy experts and researchers from all 27 EU Member States and Norway to fight online disinformation.
By focusing on emerging digital media vulnerabilities and disinformation campaigns specific to a concrete territory and/or linguistic area, each center is designed to provide specific knowledge of the local information environment to enhance the detection and analysis of disinformation campaigns, improve public awareness, and build effective national audience resilience against digital threats.
The meeting will be followed by “16th Dubrovnik Media Days” on September 29-30th and the international scientific conference “Disinformation Research: Current Trends and Perspectives”, organized in cooperation with EDMO and the Croatian Academy of Science and Arts, and with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. At the conference, the head of DIGIRES, prof. Auksė Balčytienė will present her insights and findings.
The organizer of the meeting is the Adria Digital Media Observatory (ADMO).
EDMO is a European multidisciplinary community that brings together academic researchers, fact-checkers, media professionals, digital literacy experts and other relevant actors to proactively detect, analyze and expose disinformation campaigns across Europe.
