EDMO guidelines for effective media literacy initiatives presented

21st October following UNESCO’s launch of World Media Literacy Week, the EDMO Guidelines for Effective Media Literacy Initiatives, developed in collaboration with partners from more than 50 countries, have been officially launched.

The guidelines reflect the input and experience of more than 100 experts from over 50 countries and all EDMO centres. They aim to increase the effectiveness and quality of media literacy programmes across Europe.

The document provides 12 principles to increase the effectiveness of media literacy initiatives in the development, delivery and review phases. It presents clear and practical advice for both future and existing media literacy initiatives.

The guidelines are aimed at all those involved in the development of media literacy initiatives, including civil society, educators, policy makers, and the media and technology industries. It is open to both new and existing practitioners.

Given the growing importance of media literacy in the development of informed and critically thinking citizens, these guidelines can be useful and broadly applicable to various media literacy initiatives in Lithuania.

The guidelines are available here.
